As human being we have our different purposes in life which becomes our reason to live and give us a will to survive. Lets start with my story. I am Princess Camille Asma, a ordinary person from the country were people are kind and happy despite of the struggles and poverty that people experience.
Now im a future teacher and for me this is my purpose. “To teach special children who are usually left out in this world because of criticism”. I admit it’s not easy but with passion, i am able to enjoy and love them so much. By having my purpose in this world, I’ve become inspired to do my best to teach not just special children but every student who need me. As a result my purpose in life expanded “To teach because i can".
My sea-teacher journey goes so fast. It is unexpected due to different unexpected circumstances that made it more challenging to be true. It began with positivity and confidence in me which became the biggest reason why it happened. One day the exam day came and i took it without hesitation. I wasn't thinking about financial issues and my current job. Why did i not think about those things? Because i can feel that i badly wanted to participate and grab this opportunity. After a few days, my school announced that i am one of the three students who passed the exam and it made me very happy. The school started announcing things that we needed and the money we had to bring, and i knew I couldn't meet those requirements on time. Despite of this i pushed really hard and began applying for my passport, purchasing a ticket, and saving money. Everything goes so hard but in the end i am able to pass everything. With enough positivity and confidence, anything is possible. The final day came and im on the plane on my way to Indonesia. I'm quite nervous but so excited for my journey to start like a usual first timer. After a few hours i landed and got to meet my buddies who are very kind "Arpin" and "Asa."
My first day was tiring but fulfilling. I slept early because the next day we were scheduled to visit the University named UPY. A week passed, and we finally went to the school that we were going to teach and conduct our teaching day. Mutiara Persada International School is a private school. Our schedule goes like this a week of observation and the rest is teaching. I am assigned to teach math. My Cooperating teachers name are Ms. Tia Pusposari, Ms. Berlian, And Ms. Agnes. I am assigned to teach grade two students the section of Archimedes and Pascual.
Their daily routines are quite amazing for me. Everyday teachers go to school early and wait at the gate for the students. They shake hands or bless the teachers. The teacher greets them good morning. After that they have flag ceremonies every Mondays. When the flag ceremony ends the teachers will go to the computer lab office. There, they conduct their sharing about different matters, agendas, or problems they encountered. After the meeting the teachers will be pray together and shake hands with each other. Everyone smile and greet each other. For this kind of routine it makes their academic support more united, communicate and have teamwork. After that they will proceed to their own class. The students are seen waiting outside the classroom having their line already fixed. One student will lead and choose the line that is more discipline to go inside first and shake hands with their adviser. This kind of routine develops students discipline and leadership.
After the routine the class will begin to go to class and proceed to the lesson for the first subject. Everyday they have there different class schedule. Good thing to there subject is they have religion and it is based to the students religion. All of the religion has designated area to go. For me, this is very nice. The school is very open with everything, they respect and value students way of living specially there religion which is a big part of there life. For there teaching material teacher uses technologyand follow 2 curriculums the cambridge and regular curriculum. The book are very detailed. It includes the materials and steps how the teacher will teach the subject. The teacher evaluation or assessment happens every week. The teacher target to finish atleast 5 lesson per week in a topic. The topic is divided into different area like example for me i am assigned to teach fraction. Everyday i have different lesson about fraction like halves, 3/4 and so on. After a week the teacher make a test paper about the topic and lesson given.
The day came that i need to go home. Like every story, it always has an ending. Im the person who hates goodbyes because i believe that every story could have a part two. Its not fast but at least it could have been. Leaving my students, my buddies, my co seateacher, and all the people who helped us in my journey is the part that hurts the most. But its okay! I know! Its not the last time we will see each other. Maybe not now but someday. I appreciate all the love, care and understanding of all the people who gave us. I can say that i am so lucky to have them with me during my sea-teaching trip. My fear became happiness, my sadness from being far away home became enjoyment and it is because of the people surrounded me during my sea teaching trip at yogyakarta. I would never forget all my memories and it will be treasure forever.
Now, i shared my purpose in the country that taught me a lot of things. Made me feel very inspired to share this to all people. No matter what is their language, way of living, culture, race, or religion. Everything is possible if we will value and respect each others differences. Thank you Yogyakarta Indonesia.
